Blindfolded Experiment
|
In this unit, we have learned how to collect data in order to find the result of the experiment. Sometimes, we cannot measure the data that we want, so we have to find the data for the calculation, then use mathematics to find the data.
The unit prepare us to be able to find the way to get the data on our own. We get to design the experiment by ourselves to achieve the goal. For example, in the blindfolded experiment, we have to design how we are going to do the experiment base on materials that we get. Our group decided to time the timing for one minute to stop walking. Also, we decided to measure two displacements (hypotenuse and base) in order to find the angle made according to the reference line. |
To find the angle made when the person walks referring to the reference line was found by applying the trigonometry. We measure two lines (displacement) made with the reference line to form a triangle. Then, we can use either sine, cosine, or tan to find the degree of angle. We have repeated the experiment several times. Also, we repeat the experiment with different people. Therefore, we could use the datas to make the average that is more accurate as we use the data from different sources. |

Buttered Bread Experiment
In this experiment, we got to spread butter on a piece of bread. Then, a person in the group must be the one who hold it, and another must run and hit the one holding the bread like accidentally. We have to repeated the same process several times for the buttered bread. While doing so, we have to record the result whether the buttered side faced down the floor or the one without butter.
The buttered process was given by the teacher; however, as we were curious about why do we have to buttered the bread, we use another piece of bread, put a mark on one side, and repeat the same process. The result seems to be quite similar. Therefore, we had concluded that it was not necessary that we need to butter the bread as it was not have that much effects. The result is really depends on the angles that the bread fell down. Even though we think that butter did not have any effects on the result, we think that the butter layer might change the center of mass which might affect the rotation point of the bread. |
